Camp Staff

We realize that your children are of utmost importance to you! Therefore, we take great care and concern in hiring the camp staff that will be working with them. The staff hiring process begins in January of each year and the hired staff (who have completed a safety screening process), must then attend a CPR/Red Cross class and a youth leadership class with Reverend Young.

What staff is used at Summer Camp?

The entire camp week is run under the Leadership of Co-Camp Directors: Reverend David Young and Administrator/Music Director, Karen Graef. All staff are connected through the use of radio's 24/7.

Each cabin is staffed with a Junior Counselor (Junior or Senior in High School: 16-18 year old) and a Senior Counselor (must have completed at least one year of college: 18-25 year old). Camp counselors are hired and screened through Chapel Lane.

The High Ropes Course and the Horse Corral are hired professional staff under the direction of Camp Sancta Maria.

The arts & crafts area, athletics and the musical production are staffed through Chapel Lane.

The Waterfront is staffed by Red Cross Certified Lifeguards and the waterfront usage in monitored very closely. The waterfront safety is so crucial to us that it is under the direction of both Camp Sancta Maria and Chapel Lane.

The camp kitchen is run and staffed by the Head of Foods for the Gaylord School System. All dietary needs are considered and please advise us if your child has special dietary needs. The kitchen is under the direction of Camp Sancta Maria.

The infirmary is staffed by a RN who is available 24 hours to administer medical care to your child. In the case of any emergency that can not be handled on site, your child will be transported to a Gaylord "Urgency Care" eight minutes away or the Gaylord Hospital which is 15 minutes away.

How can I apply to work at Summer Camp?

If you are interested in working at camp as a Camp Counselor and you are a Junior in High School or older, please contact Karen Graef who can give you more information and will give you an application form to fill out.

Who is my camp counselor this year?

The hiring process for camp begins in January of every year. As this is an extensive screening process, Camp Counselors are not identified until March of each year. Please check back in March to find the counselors in your cabin.
