Pastor's Letter
Dear friends,
Thank you for your interest in the Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church and for taking some time to visit our website. I hope you have found evidence here of a growing church that is alive in the Spirit, vital in worship, strong in education, and hard at work serving the Lord.
The writer of the Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes quite wisely reminds us that:
"For everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven." (3:1)
We are about to begin a new season in church life here at Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church. The season of Lent begins on February 22nd with Ash Wednesday. The word "Lent" comes to us from the old English word meaning "to lengthen" and is associated with the season of Spring, when the days lengthen. For Christians around the world, Lent is both a season of renewal and a season of preparation. We take these six weeks before Holy Week and Easter to enter into an intentional time of spiritual cleansing, self-examination and self-discipline.
We begin the season by lifting up the theme of repentance with the distribution of ashes on Ash Wednesday. We will continue our Worship on Wednesday (W.O.W.) Services at 7pm each week. The first Wednesday of each month, we will share together in a Taize-style worship. The second Wednesday, we will join in a Praise-oriented worship. The third Wednesday will be a healing service using a Vespers format. And the fourth Wednesday will be a multi-generational, interactive service of worship. A Lenten Bible Study will follow each service. I hope you'll join us for our marvelous W.O.W. services and study.
Each Sunday will find us sharing in corporate worship at 8:30 and 10:45 a.m., with opportunities for learning between the two services. The sacrament of holy communion shall be served at the 8:30 service every Sunday and at the 10:45 service on the first Sunday of the month.
I would like to thank all of the members and friends of Chapel Lane who submitted a short "faith story" for our Lenten devotional booklet. We have self-published a daily devotional for Lent that includes a recommended scripture for personal reflection, a story of faith related to that scripture, and a prayer. Whether you begin or end your day with these devotions, you will be blessed by being a part of a deep and abiding experience of intimacy within the community of Christ as you open yourself up to the Spirit's presence. If you would like a copy of the devotional, they are available at the church. If we run out, leave your name on the notification sheet adjacent to the basket and we will be sure to get a copy out to you!
May Christ be with you during this season of Lent and may the Holy Spirit move you with a transformational power as, together, we seek to become holy disciples who are wholly steeped in the blessings of God.
I look forward to sharing in this season of repentance and restoration with you.
On behalf of all the members and friends of the Chapel Lane church, thank you for visiting our website. We hope you'll be visiting us in person soon, too! Blessings, Pastor Rhonda

![]() You are invited to join us in worship on Sunday mornings. Our 8:30 a.m. service is relaxed and welcoming. Our 10:45 a.m. service, while more traditional in style and content, is welcoming as well. In both services we celebrate God's love for us through song, prayer, and the joyful proclamation of the Word.
Schedule Change: Please note that on Sunday, March 11, there will be no 8:30 a.m. service for that Sunday only. If you routinely attend the 8:30 service, you are encouraged to attend the 10:45 service to show support for the church’s youth, who will be conducting the service.
WEDNESDAY WORSHIP Join us for our Worship on Wednesdays (WOW!) service held at 7:00 p.m. and take advantage of this mid-week opportunity to reconnect and rejuvenate!
