Quilting Bees

The Quilting Bees' of Chapel Lane Presbyterian Church is open and welcoming to anyone who is interested in this ministry!

Currently we piece, and finish the Quilts of Valor that go to recovering military personnel from the current conflicts. We also create "Blue Star Banners" and give them to any family who has a person in the military and would like to have a banner.

You do not have to be a "Quilter" to be part of this group. If you can sew a straight line, press with an iron or hand sew the bindings and labels we can use you. We currently really need  folks, as several of our quilters are not available to us right now because of medical issues and we miss them.  

We also welcome folks from other Churches who want to be part of our group. We have a Methodist, a Catholic and a Jew and we truly love having them with us. We are an arm of ministry through Presbyterian Women.

The fellowship is fun, we laugh and care for each other and the soldiers who receive these quilts so appreciate what we are doing for them. They or their families often write how pleased they are that we take our time (and our congregation who supports the QOV project) to make them a gift that says we are thinking about them and are grateful for their efforts.  Many of these soldiers are facing tremendous efforts just to recover from their injuries.

The cost of fabrics, batting, thread and mailing costs are covered by the congregation. The quilting is donated by Cozy Corners Machine Quilting when the pieced quilts are ready to be quilted.
