Who We Are Chapel Lane is one of two Presbyterian Churches in Midland and has approximately 340 members. It is an active church whose programs and activities are guided by our vision: Growing a Faith That Must be Shared Through:
Worship and Music. For many in the congregation, a primary element of their faith journey is the worship service. As a result, we give a lot of attention to worship, and hold three services each week. We have developed a strong music program to augment and build on the worship experience. In fact, music has become one of the defining characteristics of Chapel Lane. Not only does it add to our worship experience, but, under the care of our music director, it is a magnet for our youth that expands beyond youth choirs into fellowship, youth camp, Sunday School and special programs. Education. The Christian Education efforts at Chapel Lane have expanded with the addition of a part-time Christian Education director. The breadth of education includes Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, camps (with the music director and pastor), adult classes, study groups and special programs. Children and youth are a very visible part of our Church. The pastor has an active role as a valuable resource and a study group leader. Family and Fellowship. Midland attracts people from a wide geographic distribution. As a result, most members of Chapel Lane have come from somewhere else. This geographic diversity means that for many members, Chapel Lane is their Midland family, and a close fellowship exists among members. This culture of family is a prime reason people come to Chapel Lane and eventually join. Activities designed to foster a sense of family include meals, special events and other gatherings.
Service to Others. Support of others is a growing part of Chapel Lane’s vision of sharing our faith. We support an active Pastor’s Emergency Fund that is coupled with other churches in town to provide assistance to those in need. Members have participated in mission trips to Haiti, Costa Rica, Katrina-ravaged areas and other areas of need within the United States. Our Board of Deacons has a number of related support activities within the Church (congregational care), within our community and with Presbyterian mission projects. In addition, a very active prayer chain keeps members informed of the needs of others. It is these areas of strength that, with an Interim Pastor, we can continue to |
